Fall from a Generator Platform

This reflective learning case study video is based on the experiences of the UK P&I Club. Accidents like the one you're about to see can and do happen. As you watch this short clip, ask yourself, "Could this happen on my ship?"

  • See an engineer fall from a generator platform, along with the factors that led to it
  • Understand best practices to prevent similar incidents, including conducting on-site risk assessments, installation of both top and intermediate guard-rails, avoiding working at heights if the ship is pitching and rolling, and always wearing the proper PPE
  • Discuss reflective learning questions such as "What personal action can you commit to, to avoid an incident like this on your ship?" - to prompt thoughtful discussion and engagement from your crew
